MEETOPTICS, a new way of searching for optics

Two researchers in the photonics industry decided to build a Global Optics Search to facilitate the search and comparison of products amongst verified providers. Now, 1 year after the launch they have over 40.000 optics and are growing fast.

Getting specialised optical components for photonics technologies can be complex and time-consuming. With over 100.000 optical components, each with tens of specifications crucial to performance and thousands of suppliers, the process of searching for optics can be hard and slow, having to spend weeks searching for the right optical component. But why should an engineer spend so many weeks searching for a transmission grating of 50 x 50 mm and a wavelength range of 250–600 nm? Why should it be such a slow process living in the era of digitalisation and AI?

MEETOPTICS was born to make the search for photonics technologies easy and accessible. MEETOPTICS is a photonics platform with a highly customizable search engine to find and compare optical components amongst verified providers, and to give engineers and researchers direct access to specialist photonics service providers.

The platform has currently more than 40.000 optical components from worldwide providers, such as lenses, mirrors, optical filters, windows & wedges, beamsplitters, polarisation optics, wave-plates, prisms, nonlinear crystals, diffraction gratings and optical assemblies.

MEETOPTICS offers real-time products updates with unlimited comparison thanks to the development of its metasearch technology. The user can filter by any specification (diameter, focal length, wavelength range, reflectance, substrate, surface roughness, price, delivery time…) and find the right component in just minutes, instead of days.

Some of its verified providers are Thorlabs, Edmund Optics, OptoSigma, asphericon, EKSMA Optics, Esco Optics, PLX, SSI Optics, Allectra, Dynasil, Knight Optical, Comar Optics, Inprentus and Layertec.

MEETOPTICS does not prioritise one optics manufacturer over another and there is no company bias, which means that the user can choose the specification he/she wants and MEETOPTICS provides a fair comparison for the listed products and companies. The only criteria for including a supplier is that the company and its products must be verified by users and/or members of the photonics community. In this way, MEETOPTICS can guarantee quality assurance to its users.

MEETOPTICS uses Artificial intelligence algorithms to offer professional guidance to users, enabling them to find photonics technologies in the market by providing direct access to photonics service providers with decades of experience, capable of completing even the most demanding projects.
